Union Pacific
Caliente, Nevada
March 27, 1978

Caliente is Spanish for "hot," and here in the Nevada desert that's no joke. Caliente was an important water and crew change stop on the Union Pacific's Los Angeles & Salt Lake during steam days, but today the large and imposing station is little used. This view looks south; the Meadow Valley Wash is directly ahead. U.S. Route 93 is at right.
