Gulf, Mobile & Ohio
Chicago, Illinois (Brighton Park Crossing)
July 27, 1971

Gulf, Mobile & Ohio F-unit no. 880B backs through Brighton Park Crossing with the Joliet Local, on its way to downtown Chicago to load up with passengers for Joliet and intervening points. Already starting in 1968 the classic Alton colors (red and maroon) were being replaced by solid maroon. Fortunately the GM&O's F-units hung on for quite a while longer, seventeen of them being rebuilt for Boston commuter service and beginning a second life in January 1979.
