Bessemer & Lake Erie
Greenville, Pennsylvania
March 29, 1970

The Bessemer & Lake Erie's "old" mainline famously threaded its way through downtown Greenville via a narrow right of way, here seen looking south from the Main Street grade crossing. The B&LE's Greenville station is visible just past the signals. Although Greenville was completely bypassed by the newer Kremis-Osgood cutoff, which passed east of town on an overpass, the old line was still heavily used by slower drag freights; more importantly, the B&LE's main shops were located just south of here.
