Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
Chicago, Illinois (Ash Crossing)
July 27, 1971

One of the better things Amtrak did was to take the Santa Fe's idea of high-level long-distance passenger cars and run with it. These cars, seen on the eastbound Texas Chief at Chicago's Ash Crossing, can be reasonably considered the forerunners of the Superliners that have graced Amtrak's western long-distance trains for so long.
