Nevada Northern
Ely, Nevada
March 27, 1978

The Nevada Northern Railroad was built for one purpose, to haul copper ore from pits at Ruth, Nevada (west of Ely) to smelters at McGill (east of Ely), and then haul processed copper north to the Southern Pacific and (later) Western Pacific. This is a portion of the mainline west of Ely; the snow-capped Schell Range looms in the background.
