Denver & Rio Grande Western [Southern Pacific]
Glenwood Springs, Colorado
April 30, 1993

The Denver & Rio Grande Western's Glenwood Springs, Colorado depot has been a familiar sight to many generations of travelers. To railfans, Glenwood Springs is probably best known as
- an Amtrak stop;
- the start of the D&RGW's Aspen Branch, and
- the western terminus of the ill-fated Colorado Midland Railway (with trackage rights over the D&RGW to Grand Junction).

It is also, however, a popular vacation spot, including hot springs in the winter, and so it's not surprising that the Rio Grande built this small but elegant station for the community. (Also not to be forgotten is Glenwood Canyon just to the west and easily accessible by highway.)
