A closer look at the Canadian Pacific's Buffalo-Toronto rail diesel consist. At one point in the sixties it was seriously thought that the Budd RDC might be the salvation of United States passenger service, following a number of failed experients with lightweight trains. Unfortunately they failed to stem the flow of red ink, leading inevitably to the creation of Amtrak in 1971.
