Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
Needles, California
October 22, 1977

In addition to being the site of a large passenger station, Needles, California was also a major refueling point for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe's double-track mainline across the southern deserts. Today the station still stands but the refueling rack is gone. This view looks west down the mainline; the distant bridge over the tracks is Interstate 40.
