Between Alazon and Weso, Nevada the Southern Pacific and Western Pacific operated a shared trackage agreement dating back to the first World War, with eastbound traffic using the WP and westbound the SP. The Western Pacific depot for Winemucca was located a bit north of town (seen here from the Melarkey Street bridge looking east), with the SP depot closer to downtown. The Union Pacific unit in this westbound consist is an interesting harbinger of things to come; the UP absorbed the WP on January 1, 1983.
