Kansas City Terminal

Kansas City Terminal
Kansas City, Missouri (Kansas City Union Station)
May 30, 1975

Sadly, by this time Kansas City Union Station hosted far more freight trains than passenger. The only Amtrak trains calling here were the Texas Chief (Chicago-Houston), soon to become the Lone Star, the Southwest Limited (Chicago-Los Angeles) and the National Limited (New York-Kansas City). In 1985 Amtrak will move all passenger operations to a small facility by the Main Street bridge. Today only the Southwest Chief remains unchanged, with the National Limited reduced to the Missouri River Runner between Kansas City and St. Louis.
