Wabash [Norfolk & Western]
Hannibal, Missouri
May 25, 1975

There frequently isn't a lot of room along the base of the Mississippi River bluffs, and on more than one occasion a bridge across the river has had to immediately dive into a tunnel to get where it's going. In this case, the Wabash bridge across the Mississippi leads directly to this tunnel through the rocky bluff, making a sharp left turn to ultimately connect with the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy's line along the west bank.
