This view of the New York Central mainline west of Vermilion, Ohio gives one a good idea of just what "water level route" means. The actual location of this slide is just east of the Joppa Road grade crossing south of Beulah Beach, Ohio. Considering that this was taken from one of those extra-tall New York Central signal gantries, it's definitely one of those Pictures You're Not Supposed To Take. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it today…
