Nickel Plate Road [Norfolk & Western]
Chicago, Illinois (Pullman Junction)
June 2, 1973

The southbound Norfolk & Western transfer run led by no. 4158 is crossing Chicago and Western Indiana rails at Pullman Junction before continuing south on the former Nickel Plate Road mainline. The Baltimore & Ohio-style color-position light signal is a surprise, as the C&WI used searchlight signals and the B&O has no trackage through the junction; it may have been a relic of the Pullman Railroad which also connected here with the Nickel Plate at one time. Note the tiltboard signal at the far right.
